Researchers worldwide are turning to video articles to effectively communicate and visualize nuances associated with the handling of lab materials, the use of scientific equipment, and technically intricate steps of experiments. Award Details
We will confirm three winners globally.
JoVE will provide funding, in the form of reimbursement, for professional development up to $2,000 USD per winner. This funding can be used towards conference participation and/or course registration related to skill development completed by December 30, 2023.
We will also offer a waiver on the publication fees so that the three winners may publish in JoVE free of charge (T&Cs).
We welcome submissions from researchers from across all regions and territories, currently employed by, enrolled in, or affiliated with an academic institution or corporate, government, or hospital entity.
Submission Guidelines
This award will recognize creative uses of JoVE videos to conduct research and training or share knowledge outside the physical laboratory.
Interested parties should submit:
- A short essay (1,000 words max in English) describing:
- the practice(s) established
- the steps taken to establish these practices and make them successful
- evidence pointing to positive results
- Examples of any materials used.
Submissions will be acknowledged and will be reviewed by an independent panel of researchers. Preference will be given to submissions that provide strong evidence of increased lab productivity, exposure to your lab, or saving time and resources.

Terms and Eligibility
- Applicants must be currently employed by, enrolled in, or affiliated with an academic institution or corporate, government, or hospital entity.
- Submissions may be published on our website and/or be incorporated in the development of content materials for dissemination to a wide audience.
- Applications must be received by July 18, 2022, and winners will be announced in September 2022.
- Awardees must be willing to participate in JoVE coverage of contest results including a blog post, quoted testimonial, and webinar.
Publication Fees Waiver T&Cs
- The winners must submit their manuscripts within 12-months after the winners' announcement.
- The submitted manuscript will undergo editorial review to verify compliance with JoVE's guidelines.
- After passing editorial review, the manuscript will be peer-reviewed by experts in relevant research fields. You will revise your manuscript based on peer review and editorial review comments.
- Your manuscript will be considered in-press once it successfully passes the review process.
