JoVE has on staff scientists dedicated solely to mapping JoVE videos to specific syllabi, lab training programs, or textbooks. A tailored playlist of these videos will then be created which your faculty can easily embed into your LMS, or share with their students or colleagues.
JoVE’s materials are also already paired to open-source resources such as OpenStax Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology. (see mapped OpenStax books), which make it a perfect complement to any OER or traditional textbook.
Libraries can support ALI and ZTC initiatives by providing institutionally subscribed resources to students and faculty, ensuring no out-of-pocket expenses for users.
JoVE facilitates library-led institutional subscription models, allowing faculty and students to reduce expenses on teaching and learning resources.
A JoVE Unlimited subscription automatically updates with all new JoVE content and products as they are released, keeping users up to date with
scientific developments and educational resources.
By drawing on real-world examples, experiments and engaging animations, JoVE videos help students quickly visualize abstract scientific concepts.
A UCLA research team led by Dr. Roshini Ramachandran published an article in the Journal of Chemical Education that demonstrates JoVE videos to have a significant positive impact on students’ learning and test performance: average test scores increased from 29% to 89%.¹
With subtitles in 12+ languages and with video transcripts, JoVE videos are perfect for diverse groups of students, including those who require a
different pace of instruction than their peers and those with hearing impairments. JoVE resources are all peer-reviewed or of peer-review quality.

Your faculty can assess student comprehension of videos they assign with JoVE Quiz [available for all Education content]:
-
Quickly create quizzes by creating custom questions or importing questions from an existing playlist.
-
Assign quizzes to students via email or share a secured link unique to specific quizzes.
-
Assign a JoVE quiz from your LMS platform using LTI 1.3, allowing grades to auto-sync with the LMS grade book.
All JoVE Education videos also come with a quiz bank of 5-10 multiple choice questions on the concepts and techniques covered by the video.
JoVE videos support CTE programs including Nursing, Biotechnology, Biopharma, Engineering, Psychology, amongst others. By exposing students to these techniques/protocols with the use of JoVE videos, they will be better prepared to enter the workforce.
Government labs, hospitals and clinics, research institutes, and universities already choose JoVE as a trusted resource for their research and education initiatives.
Dr. Raja Sriperumbudur, Director of the In-Vivo Resource Center at Biogen, manages a lab of 15 technical staff members, all of whom need to continuously familiarize themselves with cutting-edge techniques. It typically took 36 hours to train a lab member on a new technique. If training resources were unavailable, researchers had to be sent to a remote lab to learn the method, which added an average of 32 hours to the training time required.
JoVE was introduced to streamline the learning process, and to reduce the need to send researchers to remote locations for training. After using JoVE :
- The lab saved 1,400 hours in the training of 15 technical staff members.
- The lab reduced training costs by $100,000 and reduced the resources needed by 20%.
