Research Article

Aimed at communicating novel research. Methods are described in detail to explain how the results were obtained and enable accurate replication.

Method Article

Centered around how something is done—an experimental approach, computational workflow, or clinical procedure—with professional video production to enhance clarity and reproducibility. Novel results are allowed but not required.

Case Report

Aimed at reporting the condition and course of treatment for a single patient. Only relevant in clinical settings. Documents rare or instructive patient histories, and/or reports new and cutting-edge treatment modalities.

Review Article

Aimed at summarizing the state of a field of research or clinical practice. Synthesizes the primary research literature to create a cohesive understanding of recent developments and future directions. Calls attention to important primary articles in the field.
